By default, your organization’s website includes only a Home page. Add pages and customize content to configure your site for your unique needs.
- Click on the “Site Setup” tab on the vertical Dashboard menu at the left side of the screen.
- In the “Site Builder” window that appears, click on the “Add Page” link.
- Which “Add Page” link you use determines where your page appears in the site menu. When you first create your website, only one “Add Page” link appears, directly below the link to the Home page. As you add pages to the site, an “Add Page” link appears directly below the name of every individual page, and at the end of a sub-group of pages that forms a sub-menu under another page. (For instructions on how to change the order of main menu items, see the “Rearrange the Elements of the Main Website Menu” section of these instructions.)
- In the “New Page” window that opens, click on the “Create Page Under” dropdown menu and select the name of an existing page so the page you create becomes a sub-item under the existing page.
- If this is the first page you create, the “Create Page Under” dropdown menu contains no page names because you can’t create your first page as a sub-item.
- Click on the “Page Template” dropdown menu and select the type of page you want to create. (For a description of each of the types pages in the “Page Template” submenu, see the “Overview of Page Templates” section of these instructions.)
- Type a name for your page into the “Page Name” box. This name becomes the page title and appears in the tab of your browser when you load the page on the public site.
- If you are creating a page at the main level of your website menu (either the first page you create or one that you want to display a dropdown menu of subsidiary pages), enter a title in the “Dropdown Name” field to set the name of the menu item. Leave the “Dropdown Name” field blank to make the menu item match the name of the page.
- To override the default page URL, type a value into the “Page URL” box. By default, the page URL will match the page name, with all punctuation removed and dashes replacing any spaces between words. Accept the default value in the “Page URL” box unless you absolutely need the URL to be different from the page name. The URL sample below the “Page URL” box shows either the default or the value you type in the box.
- Deactivate the “Add This Page To Main Navigation Menu” if you do not want your new page to appear in the menu system on your public site. By default, this checkbox is activated. If you deactivate it, the only way to load the page is to type or paste its URL directly into the location line of a browser.
- Deactivate the “Make Page Active” checkbox if you do not want this page to be accessible at all on your public site. By default, this checkbox is activated. If you deactivate it, the page will not load even if you type or paste its URL into the location line of a browser.
- Activate the “Hide If Not Logged In” checkbox to make this page invisible to any website visitor who is not a logged-in member of your organization.
- Click on the “Limited to Committees” dropdown menu and activate the checkbox in front of the name of each role you want to be able to access your page. With this setting, members whose roles you do not select will be unable to access the page. To make the page accessible to all members, leave the “Limited to Committees” dropdown menu set to “None.”
- Click on the “Limited to Tags” dropdown menu and activate the checkbox in front of the name of each tag you want to be able to access your page. With this setting, members who do not have the chosen tags applied to them will be unable to access the page. To make the page accessible to all members, leave the “Limited to Tags” dropdown menu set to “None.”
- Type or paste a description of the page into the “Page Description” box. Note that this description does not show up in the metadata of your page.
- Click on the “Add” button to finish creating your page.
- To exit the process without creating a page, click on the “Cancel” button, press the “Esc” key, or click on the “X” in the top right corner of the window.
